Nova Scotia PNP Immigration Update for 2025
Nova Scotia’s Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP) has announced key updates to its immigration program for 2025, reflecting high demand and limited application capacity. Here’s what you need to know:
-
Prioritization for 2025: Due to an overwhelming number of applications, NSNP is prioritizing individuals already living and working in the province with work permits expiring in 2025. With those who have work permits expiring in 2025, special focus is given to those in healthcare, social assistance, and construction sectors.
-
Limited Processing for International Applicants: Most applications from outside Canada in non-priority sectors will not be processed in 2025, except for select employers hiring through the Atlantic Immigrant Pilot (AIP) in specific roles.
-
Pause on Accommodation and Food Services: As of April 17, 2024, the NSNP has paused new applications from the Accommodation and Food Services sector (NAICS 72) to address backlog. Candidates in these roles with employers outside NAICS 72 may still apply.
-
Looking Ahead to 2026: According to the NSNP update 2025, priorities will shift to healthcare, social assistance, and construction workers with permits expiring in 2026, with further details pending the number the program is allocated by the government for 2026.
